PTSD Treatment in Wyoming via Telehealth

Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder can develop after any experience that overwhelms your nervous system - a single event or prolonged stress. I provide trauma-informed psychiatric care via telehealth, including medication management for PTSD symptoms, for patients across Wyoming.

Common PTSD symptoms

PTSD is a nervous system response - not a sign of weakness.

Flashbacks or intrusive memories of a traumatic event
Nightmares related to the trauma
Hypervigilance - always scanning for danger
Emotional numbing or feeling detached from others
Avoidance of reminders, places, or conversations related to trauma
Exaggerated startle response
Difficulty concentrating or feeling present
Sleep disruption and fatigue

A safe, paced approach

01

At your pace

You do not have to share every detail of what happened. We'll discuss the impact of trauma on your day-to-day life and your goals, and work from there - without rushing.

02

Medication options

If medication is appropriate, I'll walk through your options. First-line PTSD medications are well-studied and can reduce the intensity of intrusions, nightmares, and hyperarousal.

03

Integrated support

I incorporate trauma-informed principles into every session - grounding, psychoeducation, and strategies for managing activation between appointments.

PTSD medication management

Sertraline and paroxetine are FDA-approved for PTSD and are commonly prescribed first-line. Other medications - including prazosin for nightmares and other SSRIs or SNRIs - may be used based on your specific symptom picture. I evaluate what makes sense based on your history, other conditions, and goals.

Medication for PTSD is not about eliminating the memory of what happened - it reduces the intensity of your nervous system's response, making it possible to engage more fully in your life and, if you choose, in formal trauma therapy.

Trauma-informed care

Trauma-informed care means your safety, choices, and pace are always prioritized. I approach PTSD with an understanding that the nervous system has been shaped by experience, and that healing requires consistency, trust, and a provider who is not going to push you faster than you can go. I will show up for that every visit.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can medication help with PTSD?

Yes. SSRIs and SNRIs are the first-line medications for PTSD and are FDA-approved for this purpose. Other medications may help with specific symptoms like nightmares or hyperarousal. Medication often works best alongside trauma-informed support.

Do you provide EMDR or trauma therapy?

My primary role is psychiatric evaluation and medication management. I incorporate trauma-informed, therapy-informed principles into our sessions, but I do not provide formal trauma-focused therapy like EMDR or CPT. If you need a trauma therapist, I can help identify appropriate resources.

Do you treat complex PTSD?

Yes. Complex PTSD (C-PTSD), which often develops from prolonged or repeated trauma, can be treated with medication management and trauma-informed support. I take a careful, paced approach to ensure care feels safe.

Is telehealth appropriate for PTSD?

Yes, and for many people it is preferable. Being able to receive care from a familiar, private space can actually reduce the activation that sometimes comes with leaving home for appointments. Video visits are HIPAA-compliant and clinically appropriate.

What if I've never talked about my trauma before?

You do not have to share every detail of what happened. I work at your pace. Understanding the impact of trauma on your nervous system and daily life matters more than a full account of the event.
